Drawing Workshops - Summer Sequence

Friday 20th (Evening) / Saturday 21st and / Sunday 22nd August 2010 At The School of Economic Science, 11 Mandeville Place, London, W1U 3AJ

Cecil Collins (1908-1989) - artist, poet, philosopher and inspired teacher, is widely regarded as England’s most important visionary artist since William Blake. Through the quest for spiritual truth, beauty and harmony which motivated his life, he offered the spark of divine inspiration to all who entered his world, whether it was through his paintings, his writings, or his teaching. The Drawing Workshops offered here, are couched in the methods initiated and developed by Cecil Collins, and are run by Lynette Howells-Moore, who has been working with this very particular approach to teaching Drawing for over twenty five years.

Contemplations of the Spiritual in Contemporary Art

A conference will be held on Friday 10th - Saturday 11th December 2010, in Liverpool Cathedral, organised by Dr. Rina Arya, Lin Holland & Jane Poulton. The event was suggested by artists in residence at the city's cathedrals, and speakers and plenaries will be placing religion (which is taken in its more inclusive sense to refer to the spiritual) in dialogue with contemporary art, hoping for fruitful interdisciplinary debates.

Venue address: Liverpool Cathedral, St James Mount, Liverpool, L1 7AZ; Registration fee (including delegate pack and refreshments) for the whole conference: £70 (£45 for one day).

Contact the organisers by email or download (Word doc) flyer and call for papers for more information.
